He turned his head towards me, teeth bared in what looked like a sadistic smile, eyes bright red. "Because it pisses you off. You're dead, girl," he growled in a deep voice, then lunged at me.
"Argh!" I yelled as I jumped out of the way, rolling from my shoulder to my hip and hopping back up as I spun around. He was directly across from me, shoulders hunched, teeth bared, and hands like claws. He gave a slight growl and the smell of his breath carried across the gap between us. I gagged at probably the worst moment.
Rage showed on his face. He opened his mouth and hissed at me, fangs gleaming and seeming to grow longer. Spit flew from his m
"Ugh." It had been a long night for me. I had stayed up until my usual time to get off my shift. Only this time I had to run around, climbing up and down three story buildings, with someone following me. And I had to teach them as well. God, what a productive night. And a very tiring one as well.
Not to mention I also had to haul him around with me when the sun was up. I had to admit, though, going to the town always made me happier.
However, going to the town didn't mean that I got an extra four hours of sleep.
I was exhausted. I can't believe that the Chairman would make me do this. I swore to myself that second that I would find some wa
The beat was the only thing I could hear, my feet moving along with the music. My eyes were focused, though, I had no idea what type of movements my body was making because I didnt take a wrong step. With my partner, it was impossible to do that; he wouldnt let it happen.
The music got faster and so did our feet. We stared into each others eyes, the red I looked at almost hypnotizing. He pulled his arm up and I glided into a spin, curling back into his arms as I completed the circle. Our fingers intertwined as we moved around the room. The song was coming to an end, speeding up to make a dramatic exit.
We moved with the faster b

James and I took our time walking back to the Academy, talking about whatever passed through our heads. By the time we got back all of the classes were over and there were some people in the small courtyards, either reading or studying, doing homework, or hanging out with friends. I saw a couple or two sitting in the shade of the trees and standing against the wall for privacy, smiles on their faces.
It was a perfect time to be outside during spring, when it wasnt dark but still later in the day. The sun wouldnt be going down for another couple hours, and the people were making the most of the daylight.
Okay, lets ge
So, basically, your job is to keep the vampires in line during the night? And they dont give you any time during the day to catch up on sleep? James asked as we slowly made our way out of the school gates.
Yep, thats how they run things here. Normally they would give the guards shifts and everything, but seeing as Im the only one here, I have to cover all the ground, which takes some time, I replied.
How are you still able to walk during the day?
I laughed. Its not as bad as you might think. I have a few friends I still need to catch up with and talk to at the other dorms, a
There was peaceful black, nothing but soft and warm all around me. It was like sleeping on a giant, warm black sea. . .
As time went on, though, there was a soft sound, slowly growing louder and more obnoxious. It became shriller and shriller until the sound of my alarm going off broke me out of my sleep.
Not expecting it to go off just yet, I threw my upper body out of the bed, my hand reaching out like someone had grabbed me and pulled me up. My hand reached along the bedside table, slamming down as hard as I could when I found the sleep button on the alarm. I still hadnt opened my eyes yet.
The shrieking suddenly stopped, leaving
Wind blew gently on the campus, a few of the green leaves on the trees rustling. I sat on the thick stone fence, my feet just touching the ground since it was only a few feet high. My black bangs lazily fluttered in front of my face and I pushed them away swiftly.
My eyes were locked on my laptop sitting on my legs, but my mind was far from work. My eyes flashed up to the two figures standing close together in the bright light of the side walk. I could feel an annoyance headache coming.
Make sure you dont do anything dangerous, she told him sweetly. I flashed my eyes back to the blank screen to stop from commenting at her
Argh! Why do I have to do this?! Nothing ever happens!!! I complained as I walked. There was no one nearby, at least there shouldnt be, so no one should hear me. I kicked a pebble and watched it skitter down the stone path.
The curfew was 9:00 p.m. and every one had to be in their rooms by 9:30. My shift started around nine. I usually had to patrol until about 1:00 or 2:00 in the morning. I was lucky if I was able to go to sleep at midnight. But since hardly anyone else was a guard, I had to work all the shifts.
Normally, guards and prefects are chosen in the first year. They are watched for honesty, sense of righteousness
The wind blew across my face, blowing my hair back. My hair was brown with blonde highlights. The wind didn't make my hair any more brushed than it was before. It was just like any other night around the campus. The vampire students were out going to their classes while the dhampirs were in their lounges. The dhampirs have to stay inside during the night until their training is done. It takes five years to finish it. Only the seniors can come out at night but that doesn't mean younger students don't try, that's why I am out here. I am only a junior but I am outside at night every night. I am in a special training program at the c
